Any real English word of 3 letters or more, read across (left to right) or down (top to bottom). Diagonals and backwards words don't count. Slurs and vulgar words are left out of the dictionary.

Most often it's a repeat: every word counts once per game, and on Impossible a repeat doesn't clear at all. The Words used list shows what you've said. It can also be the word of the day at work: once three letters in a line match today's word, shorter words inside that stretch wait until the whole word forms.

Hold parks the current letter and brings up the next one. Tap it again to play the held letter. You get 3 holds a game. Hint lights the best column for the current letter: the Daily gives 3, 2 or 1 depending on the level, and Endless gives 3 on every level.

At midnight where you are. You get one run per level per day. If you leave mid-game, your run is saved until midnight; at midnight it ends with the score you have.

Find today's word in any game and your bonus multiplier climbs by 0.25 for each day in a row, up to ×3. Miss a day and it starts again.

After an Endless game, tap Challenge a friend. They get a link that opens the same letters and level with your score to beat. Challenge games don't count toward bests or leaderboards.

Settings → Remove ads. It's a yearly subscription that turns off banner and full-screen ads. You can cancel any time in the Settings app under your Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Settings → Remove ads → Restore purchase, signed in with the same Apple ID.

Undos, holds, bombs and hints you buy are stored on your device. They can't be restored after you delete the app or move to a new phone.

Apple handles all payments. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

No. Your games, scores and settings stay on your device. Leaderboards use your Game Center profile if you're signed in. See the privacy policy for details.

Delete and reinstall the app. That removes everything stored on the device, including purchased boosters. Scores already posted to Game Center stay there.
