Unsaid has no accounts and no servers that store your games. Most of what the app knows stays on your iPhone. Ads are the exception, and this page explains how they work.

What stays on your device

Game history, scores, best scores, streaks, saved Daily runs, settings, reminder time and purchased boosters are stored on your iPhone. The home-screen widget reads today's word and your best Daily from the same device. We don't receive any of it. Deleting the app deletes it.

Advertising

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking when iOS asks;
IP address, which can indicate your approximate location;
device and app information, and how you interact with ads;
diagnostic data such as crashes and performance.

Google uses this to show, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud. If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalized ads, using Google's consent form. You can change your tracking choice any time in the Settings app → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Read how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's privacy policy.

If you subscribe to Remove ads, the app doesn't request or show ads.

Game Center

If you're signed in to Game Center, your scores and word-of-the-day streaks are posted to Apple's leaderboards, where other players can see them with your Game Center name. Apple runs Game Center under Apple's privacy policy. You can sign out in the Settings app → Game Center.

Purchases

Apple processes all payments. We never see your payment details. The app checks with Apple whether your Remove ads subscription is active.

Challenge links

A challenge link carries the game's letters, level, your score and your Game Center name so your friend can see who they're playing. You choose who to send it to. When someone opens the link without the app installed, our website shows that information back to them in their browser; we don't store it.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily reminder, it's scheduled on your iPhone. No server sends it and we don't learn when you play.

This website

The site is hosted on Microsoft Azure, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) to run and secure the service. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address. The site uses no cookies and no analytics.

Children

Unsaid is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. [Confirm against the App Store age rating and AdMob child-directed settings.]

Your choices and rights

Delete the app to remove everything stored on your device.
Turn tracking off, or reset your advertising identifier, in the Settings app.
Subscribe to Remove ads to stop ad requests entirely.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal data. Because we don't hold your game data, requests about ad data are best sent to Google; we'll help if you write to us.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and describe material changes in the app's release notes.
